Aave (AAVE)<\/a> has launched collateral swaps on its V4 markets on Ethereum, Base and Avalanche. The feature went live in early November 2026, according to the Aave app<\/a>, and it lets borrowers switch collateral from one asset to another without closing their loan positions.<\/p>\n

How Collateral Swaps Work<\/h2>\n

Borrowers pick the new collateral asset and the swap runs through CoW Protocol in one transaction. The loan stays open for the whole swap, so the debt, health factor and interest accrual continue as before. The old collateral is exchanged for the new one and posted to the same position.<\/p>\n

The route is the same borrowing flow Aave users already know. The swap replaces the collateral behind the loan instead of forcing a full exit and re-entry.<\/p>\n

What It Changes for Borrowers<\/h2>\n

Users can rebalance exposure or rotate out of a collateral asset without repaying the loan first. That removes two steps from the old process, where a borrower had to close the position and open a new one, paying gas and interest twice. Borrowers can also use the swap to move into a different collateral asset in the same market when their outlook for the current one changes. The loan terms, including the borrowed asset and the interest rate mode, stay the same across the swap.<\/p>\n

The feature also gives borrowers a faster way to adjust positions when collateral prices move, since the swap and the collateral update happen in a single transaction.<\/p>\n

Where the Feature Is Live<\/h2>\n

Collateral swaps are available on the Aave V4 markets on Ethereum, Base and Avalanche, including the Avalanche market. Aave is one of the largest lending protocols in DeFi<\/a>, and it runs across several chains in the Ethereum ecosystem<\/a>.<\/p>\n
