The ApeChain Chainlink CCIP migration is replacing the LayerZero bridge behind cross-chain transfers in the Yuga Labs ecosystem, the teams announced on November 4, 2026. ApeChain is adopting the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) from Chainlink (LINK)<\/a> as its canonical standard, and the change covers the whole ecosystem and its ApeCoin (APE)<\/a> token.<\/p>\n

What the ApeChain Chainlink CCIP Migration Covers<\/h2>\n

CCIP is becoming the canonical cross-chain infrastructure across the entire Yuga Labs ecosystem, starting with Bored Ape Yacht Club use cases, ApeChain and the APE token, according to the announcement reported by CryptoNews<\/a>. ApeChain is a Layer 3 network on Arbitrum Orbit that uses APE as its native gas token.<\/p>\n

The APE and USD Coin (USDC) tokens will migrate to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard. CCT lets developers register ERC-20 tokens with CCIP while keeping control of token contracts, liquidity pools and per-lane transfer limits. Configurable token pools support burn-and-mint, lock-and-mint or liquidity-backed transfers. The teams have not said which model APE and USDC will use.<\/p>\n

Why ApeChain Is Leaving LayerZero<\/h2>\n

The old setup used LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token standard, which kept APE supply unified across Ethereum, Arbitrum, Solana, HyperEVM, BNB Chain, Monad and Robinhood. Chainlink said the previous solution is entering technical deprecation.<\/p>\n

Neither ApeCoin nor Chainlink pointed to a security breach or smart contract bug in the legacy bridge. The teams framed the switch as a way to standardize connectivity across apps, communities and digital assets. CCIP fees are set by the source and destination networks, destination gas costs, message size and the verification layers a transfer selects.<\/p>\n

For the gaming coins<\/a> and apps that bridge through ApeChain, the migration replaces the rails behind every cross-chain transfer.<\/p>\n

What Happens to APE Transfers Now<\/h2>\n

No immediate action is required for APE holders. Initial releases from Chainlink and ApeCoin include no sunset deadline for the old bridge and no user swap procedure, so both systems may run in parallel for a while.<\/p>\n

The move follows other large migrations to CCIP. The Ronin network moved more than $450 million in assets to the standard in April 2025, and the Bitcoin liquidity protocol Lombard transitioned over $1 billion.
