We all know about Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC) but what are some smaller-cap privacy coins and privacy projects that are still worth investing in and have high growth potential?
Here are some of our top picks for low-cap privacy projects that have a lot of room to grow:
Zano
Zano (ZANO) is a privacy-by-default Layer 1 where developers build and issue Confidential Assets that inherit the same privacy protections, for example fUSD, a private stablecoin.
Zano’s privacy is enforced at the protocol level hiding the sender, receiver, amounts, staking, and asset types. Zano implemented Zarcanum, the first proof of stake scheme with hidden amounts.
Zano’s lead developer is well-known in the privacy space as he was part of the team who wrote the original CryptoNote, the codebase that Monero and other privacy projects forked from.
ZANO is already spent in the real world through partners including OpenCryptoPay, AEON Pay and Zebec, with QR payments, Mastercards and e-commerce. They also announced that ThorChain and BTCPay Server integrations are coming soon.
Also on their roadmap are an EVM sidechain for smart contracts connected to Zano, and Zenith, the next consensus upgrade, a pure-PoS with a proposed 15-second block time and roughly 60–90 second confirmations.
Where to store Zano?
Zano is supported by third-party wallets including Bitcoin.com Wallet, Edge Wallet and Unstoppable Wallet. Zano also has its own mobile wallet that can be downloaded in Apple Store, Google Play or their own website. Also a desktop wallet that can be downloaded at https://zano.org/wallets
Where to get Zano?
You can get Zano on centralized exchanges like MEXC and OurBit, while a bridged version of ZANO is also available on Uniswap.
Marketcap
At the moment this article is written Zano sits at a $59Million marketcap, with a circulating supply of 15.4 Million tokens.
Pirate Chain
Pirate Chain (ARRR) is a privacy Layer 1 where transactions are shielded by default, using zk-SNARKs to hide the sender, receiver and amount. Pirate Chain launched in 2018 as a community-run project. It builds on Zcash’s shielded-transaction technology and secures its chain with delayed Proof of Work (dPoW), which periodically notarizes Pirate Chain blocks to Litecoin to protect against 51% attacks.
Where to store ARRR
Pirate Chain Foundation made a wallet which is available in the App Store and Play store called Stashi Wallet. It is also supported by third party wallets like Edge Wallet and Verus Wallet. https://piratechain.com/wallets/
Where to get ARRR
ARRR can be bought on MEXC, Gate, and Non-KYC.
Marketcap
At the time of writing Pirate Chain has a market cap of $38 Million, with a circulating supply of 196 million tokens.
Firo
Firo (FIRO), formerly known as Zcoin, is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that uses a privacy technology called Lelantus Spark, which hides the sender, receiver, and transaction amounts. This makes it much harder for someone to track your transactions or see how much crypto you hold.
One thing that makes Firo interesting is that it’s not a new project trying to jump on the privacy coin trend. It has been developing privacy technology since 2016.
In their roadmap they list Spark Assets which will allow users to create their own private tokens on the Firo blockchain, with transaction details and even the type of asset being hidden.
They’re also working on Spark Swap, which aims to let users swap Firo and other Spark assets privately without relying on a centralized exchange.
Further down the road, the team is also exploring quantum-resistant privacy technology, along with integrations that could make Firo easier to access and use across different blockchains.
Where to store Firo?
You can store FIRO using the project’s official wallets, including Campfire, which is available for desktop and mobile, or the Firo Reference Wallet for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Other options include Stack Wallet, Edge Wallet, and Coinomi.
You can find the available wallets on their website:https://firo.org/get-firo/download/
Where to get Firo?
FIRO is available on MEXC, while its bridged version, rsFIRO, is available on Uniswap.
Marketcap
At the time of writing, FIRO has a market cap of approximately $15.8 million.
Railgun
Railgun isn’t exactly a traditional privacy coin like Monero or Zcash. Instead, it is a set of privacy smart contracts that runs directly on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon and BNB Chain, so users don’t have to move to a separate privacy chain. Tokens moved into RAILGUN sit in a shared private pool.
It uses zero-knowledge proofs (zk-SNARKs) to hide transaction details, so users can transfer, swap tokens and use DeFi without publicly exposing balances or who they deal with. Railgun today makes it possible to shield any token on ETH, swap them privately, use any DeFi app, earn Morpho yield, lend and borrow fxUSD, and trade privately on Hyperliquid.
On Railgun you can shield transparent stablecoins like USDC, USDT, fxUSD, and DAI and make them private.
Where to store RAIL
You can store RAIL in Ethereum-compatible wallets like MetaMask, Rabby, and Ambire.
Where to get RAIL
RAIL can be traded on MEXC and Uniswap.
Marketcap
At the time of writing RAIL sits at a $146 Million marketcap, with a circulating supply of 60 Million tokens.
The Interfold
The Interfold (FOLD) is an Ethereum-based network where several parties can compute together on private data and get a verifiable shared result without revealing their inputs to each other.
Inputs stay encrypted the whole time, using fully homomorphic encryption, threshold cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs. A committee of independent nodes decrypts only the final result, so no single node holds the full key and no trusted hardware is needed.
The Interfold is built by Gnosis Guild, the team behind the Safe multisig toolkit Zodiac, and was previously known as Enclave.
Its network went live on Ethereum mainnet on August 19, 2026, and governance followed in September, with its own secret-ballot voting built on Aragon.
Use cases include private voting, sealed-bid auctions and shared analytics.
Where to store FOLD
FOLD is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, so it can be held in any Ethereum wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens, such as Ambire, MetaMask, Trust Wallet or a Safe multisig. The official token contract is 0xE172e9B6cfBeeB5593bDcE3f077356FDb33af904.
Where to get FOLD
FOLD can be bought on Upbit, Kraken, Gate, MEXC, Uniswap and more.
Market Cap
At the time of writing, The Interfold has a market cap of $16.4 Million, with a circulating supply of 1.2 Billion tokens.
These coins are still a relatively small cryptocurrency, so trading volume and liquidity can be limited compared to bigger coins, however, their relatively small market caps also leave room for significant growth, especially if demand for financial privacy and blockchain privacy technology increases.
