What is Serum
Serum (SRM) is a decentralized derivatives exchange (DEX) project that enables cross-chain trading. The Serum project is powered by the SRM governance token, which also provides discounts on trading on Serum, and is burnt with revenue earned from transactions on the network. The Serum project is described as a clean form of DeFi that is built on the Solana blockchain. It will run on a central limit order book that is fully trustless. The Serum alternatively also has an Ethereum or ERC-20 version; SerumBTC and a SerumUSD stablecoin that will exist as SPL and ERC20 tokens. These coins have to make it possible to offer physically settled cross-chain contracts.
The goal of Serum
Serum was created to solve the centralized vulnerabilities existing in the current DeFi space in the same trustless and permissionless way that DEX traders are comfortable with.
Who built Serum
The project is a collaboration between FTX, a centralized exchange platform, and Solana, which is an interoperable blockchain featuring smart contracts.
