What are DRC-20 tokens?
DRC-20 tokens are an experimental fungible-token standard for the Dogecoin blockchain, inspired by Bitcoin’s BRC-20 and Ethereum’s ERC-20.
Each token is created by inscribing JSON data onto individual Dogecoin satoshis using the DRC Ordinals Protocol.
No smart contracts are involved; balance state is tracked by off-chain indexers that read these inscriptions.
How It Works
- Deploy – inscribe
{"p":"drc-20","op":"deploy","tick":"DOGI","max":"21000000"}on a Dogecoin sat. - Mint – inscribe
{"p":"drc-20","op":"mint","tick":"DOGI","amt":"1000"}to create supply. - Transfer – inscribe
{"p":"drc-20","op":"transfer","tick":"DOGI","amt":"100"}then send that sat to the recipient. - Indexer – scans Dogecoin blocks and builds a ledger of balances.
First & Famous Tokens
- $DOGI – the first DRC-20; 21 million max supply; mascot is the original Doge meme dog.
- $FIWB – “Fuck It We Bark”; 1 billion supply; 20k+ holders.
- $PEPE – Dogecoin version of Pepe; 21 million supply; 4k+ holders.
Benefits
- Dogecoin-native – secured by Doge’s Proof-of-Work; no separate blockchain.
- Cheap fees – Doge tx cost < $0.01; minting and trading is practically free.
- Simple – no smart-contract complexity; anyone can mint or transfer.
- Community boost – new trading pairs, airdrops, and meme culture around Doge.
Risks & Limitations
- Indexer reliance – if indexers disagree, ledger forks; no on-chain enforcement.
- Early tooling – few audited wallets, DEXs, or custody solutions.
- No DeFi – no lending, staking, oracles; only OTC or centralized trading.
- Scam clones – easy to duplicate ticker; verify inscription number and deployer.
- Regulatory fog – no SEC/FSA guidance; issuer KYC may be required for securities.
Where to Trade / Mint
- Ordifind.com – mint and trade inscriptions.
- Doggy Market – Telegram-based OTC desk.
- Gate.io – centralized listing for major DRC-20 ticks.
- UniSat Wallet – Dogecoin Ordinal wallet with DRC-20 support (coming soon).
Final Thoughts
DRC-20 brings fungible meme tokens to Dogecoin without smart contracts.
It’s cheap, simple, and community-driven—but entirely experimental and indexer-dependent.
If tooling and liquidity grow, DRC-20 could become the default meme-token layer for DOGE; until then, treat it as a high-risk, high-fun playground.
