What are BRC-20 tokens?
BRC-20 tokens are an experimental fungible-token standard for Bitcoin created by @domodata in March 2023.
They use the Ordinals protocol to inscribe JSON text onto individual satoshis, defining ticker, supply, and transfer rules.
There are no smart contracts; balance state is tracked by off-chain indexers that parse these inscriptions.
How It Works (Simple Flow)
- Mint – inscribe

BRC-20 brings fungible tokens to Bitcoin without smart contracts.

If indexer consensus and tooling mature, BRC-20 could become the default meme-token layer for BTC; until then, treat it as an experimental playground.
