Short answer: Yes, but only with the right licence and approval. Google needs a certification for exchanges and wallets in each country. Meta needs written permission. X needs a licence and certification. Many crypto products are banned outright, including token presales. That is why many projects advertise on crypto sites instead.
This guide summarises each platform’s public policy, checked on October 13, 2026. Policies change often. Always read the official page before you apply. This is not legal advice.
Why big ad platforms limit crypto
Crypto has a history of scams and failed projects. Large ad platforms protect users by only allowing licensed firms. Each platform sets its own list of what is allowed, what needs approval and what is banned.
Google Ads
Google’s cryptocurrencies policy splits crypto into three groups.
Allowed without certification
- Businesses that accept crypto as payment
- Mining hardware
- Tax, legal and security services
- Crypto education without investment advice or price predictions
Allowed with certification
- Exchanges and software wallets, with a licence in each target country
- Hardware wallets
You apply inside your Google Ads account. You need a separate approval for each country or group of countries. In the EU, exchanges need MiCA authorisation. In the UK, they need FCA registration. In the US, they need FinCEN registration plus state licences.
Banned
- Token presales and ICOs
- DeFi trading protocols and liquidity pools
- Crypto loans
- Trading signals and investment advice
- Affiliate, comparison and broker-review sites
Many countries are not on Google’s approved list at all.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
Meta’s crypto ads policy needs written permission for:
- Exchanges and trading platforms
- Crypto lending and borrowing
- Wallets that let you buy, sell, swap or stake
- Mining software
- Sites that ask people to invest in crypto
You request permission in Meta Business Suite and upload your licence. A decision usually takes about two business days.
You don’t need permission for crypto news, education, events, NFTs or wallets that only store coins.
X (Twitter)
X’s financial services policy allows exchanges, wallets and some DeFi products, but only with a licence in the target country and X certification.
It bans token sales (ICOs, IEOs and IDOs) and all mining products. Crypto ads are not available at all in some countries.
TikTok
TikTok’s financial services policy sets rules market by market. Licensed exchanges may be allowed in some markets after an application. All financial ads must target people aged 18 and over. Token sales are banned.
Side by side
| Meta | X | TikTok | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Exchanges | Certification and licence | Written permission | Licence and certification | Some markets, with application |
| Token presales | Banned | Investment offers need permission | Banned | Banned |
| DeFi protocols | Banned | Depends on product | Licence needed | Not listed |
| Crypto news and education | Allowed | Allowed | Allowed | Depends on market |
What if you can’t get approved?
Many crypto projects can’t get approved. They may be too new, have no licence yet, or be in a country the platform doesn’t cover. Others are approved but find the targeting too broad.
Advertise on crypto sites
Crypto sites set their own ad rules. Their readers already own crypto. You reach people who are looking for coins, exchanges and wallets right now.
Crypto advertising on Coinranking reaches 500K+ monthly users. Coinranking reviews every campaign before it goes live. See the crypto advertising platforms compared for other options.
Publish content on crypto sites
Articles keep working after an ad campaign ends. A sponsored article or press release puts your project in front of readers and search engines.
Build search traffic
Content that ranks in Google brings visitors without any ad approval. Links from trusted crypto sites help. See our crypto link building guide.
The law still applies
A crypto site may accept your ad, but your ad must still follow the law in each country you target. The UK and the EU have strict rules on crypto marketing. Read crypto ad rules for the US, UK and EU before you launch.
