The project was conceived in early 2018 and raised development funding via a private sale in 2019. KAI was first issued as an ERC-20 token through a public token offering in 2020, selling out entirely. The mainnet launched in December 2020, at which point KAI migrated to the native chain.

How KardiaChain Works

At the core of KardiaChain is its Dual Node structure. Each dual node simultaneously holds access to the KardiaChain ledger and to another blockchain's ledger. This allows two different blockchains to operate in parallel and exchange data without disrupting either chain.

The network uses a DPoS + BFT consensus mechanism. Validators — high-performance full nodes — produce new blocks and participate in consensus, earning rewards per block. Users who do not run their own validator can delegate their KAI to existing validators and earn a share of rewards. Developers can write and deploy KSML smart contracts natively on the platform.

Tokenomics

KAI is the utility and governance token of the KardiaChain ecosystem. Its primary uses include paying network transaction fees, deploying dApps and smart contracts, staking to secure the network, and voting on governance proposals.

Tokens enter circulation through block rewards distributed to validators and delegators, as well as vesting releases from earlier allocation rounds. The staking model is delegated, meaning any holder can participate and earn rewards proportional to their stake.
