Introduction

RDO is the native utility token of the Reddio network — a high-performance Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain designed to overcome the throughput limitations of traditional EVM execution. By combining parallel transaction processing, GPU acceleration, and zero-knowledge proofs, Reddio aims to deliver a fast, cost-effective, and AI-ready environment for decentralized applications.

History & Background

Reddio was founded around 2021 and initially focused on simplifying zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. In 2022, the project received investment from Paradigm and Arena Holdings, accelerating its pivot toward a full parallel zkEVM Layer 2 architecture. A seed funding round closed in 2024, and the public testnet launched in early 2025, followed by the mainnet going live in Q2 2025.

The project also received a grant from the Ethereum Foundation for its CUDA-based EVM bytecode executor — a rare recognition for a Layer 2 team.

How RDO Token Works

Reddio addresses a core bottleneck in Ethereum's design: sequential transaction execution. Traditional EVMs process transactions one at a time, creating throughput ceilings.

Reddio's Parallel EVM executes all transactions within a block concurrently across multiple CPU threads. On top of this, NVIDIA's CUDA GPU engine accelerates EVM bytecode execution, pushing throughput to around 12,000 transactions per second. ZK proofs then validate all off-chain computation and settle it on Ethereum, inheriting Ethereum's security guarantees.

Tokenomics

RDO serves as the economic backbone of the Reddio network. Its core utility functions include:

  • Gas fees: Users pay RDO to execute transactions on the network.
  • Staking: Sequencer and validator nodes must stake RDO to participate in block production.
  • Governance: RDO holders vote on protocol upgrades and key network parameters.
  • Incentives: Developers, infrastructure providers, and ecosystem contributors earn RDO rewards.

The token also incorporates a burn mechanism and a points-based incentive system designed to align long-term community participation.

Ecosystem & Use Cases

Reddio's high-throughput infrastructure targets three primary verticals:

  • DeFi: Fully on-chain order books and high-frequency trade analytics become practical at Reddio's TPS.
  • On-chain AI: GPU acceleration enables native AI model inferencing directly on-chain, supporting autonomous AI agents.
  • Gaming: Entire game logic and AI-driven opponents can be deployed on-chain, creating trustless and transparent gameplay.

The platform supports full Solidity bytecode compatibility, making migration straightforward for existing Ethereum developers.

Team, Governance & Community

Reddio is developed by a globally distributed team with academic collaboration from NUS and NTU in Singapore. Governance is token-driven, with RDO holders able to vote on protocol direction. The community has grown substantially since the testnet launch, reflecting broad developer and user interest.

Advantages

  • GPU-accelerated parallel execution delivers industry-leading throughput for an EVM-compatible L2.
  • ZK proof settlement on Ethereum preserves the security of the base layer without compromise.
  • Full EVM compatibility allows seamless porting of existing Solidity smart contracts.
  • AI-ready infrastructure opens up an entirely new category of on-chain applications.
  • Ethereum Foundation grant provides institutional credibility and validation of the core technology.

Risks & Challenges

  • Competitive L2 landscape: The Layer 2 space is crowded, with well-funded rivals already at scale.
  • Technology complexity: GPU-accelerated ZK proving is technically demanding and may introduce unforeseen security considerations.
  • Adoption risk: Attracting developers and liquidity to a newer Layer 2 network takes time.
  • Centralization concerns: Early sequencer infrastructure may be concentrated before full decentralization is achieved.

Long-Term Vision

Reddio's roadmap points toward a fully decentralized, modular blockchain ecosystem capable of supporting AI-native applications at scale. By enabling native on-chain AI inference and offering modular sequencer SDKs for launching OP/ZK Appchains on L2 and L3, Reddio positions RDO as the utility layer for a next-generation compute network — one where AI and blockchain infrastructure converge.

Frequently Asked Questions

RDO is used to pay gas fees, stake as a sequencer or validator node, participate in governance voting, and earn incentive rewards as a developer or ecosystem contributor.

Reddio combines GPU-accelerated parallel EVM execution with zero-knowledge proofs, allowing transactions within the same block to be processed concurrently rather than sequentially. This architecture pushes throughput to around 12,000 TPS, well beyond traditional EVM Layer 2 solutions.

Yes. Reddio supports full Solidity bytecode compatibility, meaning developers can migrate or deploy existing Ethereum smart contracts without rewriting their code.

Reddio is backed by Paradigm and Arena Holdings, which invested in the project's seed round in 2022. The Ethereum Foundation has also supported the project with a grant for its CUDA-based EVM executor.

Parallel EVM is an enhanced version of Ethereum's virtual machine that executes smart contracts concurrently rather than one at a time. This dramatically increases throughput and reduces latency, making real-time and AI-driven applications feasible on-chain.

RDO has confirmed token contracts on both Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, allowing it to be traded across both ecosystems.

Reddio is designed for DeFi platforms requiring high-frequency trade execution, on-chain AI inference and autonomous AI agents, and blockchain gaming where game logic runs fully on-chain.

Reddio uses zero-knowledge proofs to validate all off-chain transaction execution and settle the proofs directly on Ethereum, inheriting the security guarantees of the Ethereum base layer.
